It is with great honour that I share with you why The Ipswich Study is important to me. I was born and educated in Ipswich, and like many of you, I have watched our city grow and flourish into the city it is today.
As a city on the move, we are heading towards a population boom, and like all booms, we need to prepare adequately, to ensure our community manages the change and pressure on its systems, particularly health care.
I know that research plays an integral part in providing evidence and solutions that benefit communities. The Ipswich Study is a health research project that will directly benefit not only the people of Ipswich, but that of our sister city, Brisbane and far beyond – to our international community.
This unique study goes beyond simply recognising that neighbourhoods influence health and into understanding exactly how. Join me in supporting this large-scale research project, by providing vital funding that will see major benefit for our communities and will guide us further in growing and shaping our city.
